we are all beautiful inside. our heart is love.

and in our dearest friends, we see their sacredness clearly.
they are gems in our lives. they reflect the divine for us.

it is our gardeners who truly show us the places where we get stuck in self-centeredness, false belief, and self-will. these, also, are our gems...for they illuminate the blemishes on our internal mirror. with true, honest reflection, we wipe away the blemishes and then become wholly a brilliant light, reflecting the Beauty of the Divine. Therefore, do not fire the gardener, for this is foolish (throwing away your enlightenment). however, also do not embrace the gardener uninhibitedly, for this is idiot compassion. (i.e. enabling or caretaking, etc) Both of these choices increase negative karma for both people involved.

the path of compassion is the path of forgiveness, reflection, understanding, and the choice to tenderly express to the gardener what is your perception and what is your need - with tenderness and eyes that smile with understanding, for eyes always smile when they understand. the path of compassion leads to liberation for gardener and self. this path frees both from the karmas of their past and their ignorance.

and on this path, beware the sympathy of friends, for this sympathy, while well-intended as support/care, actually can "justify" and deepen your entrenchment in a particular unhealthy karmic pattern for it will allow you to blame another and not see where you create and help to sustain the pattern within yourself. this sympathy one often seeks can also increase judgment and an egoic righteousness, which only widen the divide that has created pain and separation between you to begin with. may we learn to ask for what we need, with understanding for our gardeners, rather than fight or flight. may we learn to live Love. & may we enjoy each step of this journey back to true awareness: you are Divine.
